CHRISTIANA HOWELL
Christiana is a choral conductor and lyric soprano residing in London, UK.
Christiana holds degrees in Music Education, Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting. She recently completed a Master of Music in Choral Studies (MMus) at the University of Cambridge, singing with and frequently conducting the Selwyn College Chapel Choir. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Vocal Performance (BM) from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 2008, and her Master of Music in Music Education (MME) from Shenandoah University of Virginia in 2013. Christiana was a full time teacher at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Western Pennsylvania from 2009 - 2018, where she conducted the middle school choir, directed the opera workshop ensemble, taught academic music and gave private singing lessons.
In Pittsburgh, Christiana maintained a career as a freelance singer, and was a member of the Pittsburgh Opera chorus for four productions. She was a soloist with several regional orchestras across Pennsylvania, in performances of Mozart's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Orff's Carmina Burana, Rutter's Requiem and Faure's Requiem. Christiana was a choral scholar at Trinity Cathedral in Pittsburgh from 2004 - 2017, and the Artistic Director of the Trinity Cathedral Boy Choir from 2015 - 2016.
Christiana has sung with several Cambridge chapel choirs including Clare, Emmanuel, Gonville and Caius, King's Voices, Selwyn, Sydney Sussex and the Cambridge University Chamber Choir. In London, she has sung with the Purcell Singers, the Fisher Consort and the Morrello Consort. Most recently, Christiana has taken up the position as Head of Choral at Brighton College in Sussex, UK.
